Celebrating International Women's Day

Posted: 6th March 2025

Women remain significantly underrepresented in health innovation and technology, facing barriers in funding, leadership, and career progression. Despite women-led start-ups delivering strong returns and fostering inclusive innovation, they receive less than 2 per cent of health-focused venture capital funding.

The theme of this year’s International Women’s Day is #AccelerateAction, and today (6 March) we have published a paper with clear recommendations for system-wide support to accelerate gender equity in HealthTech.

Empowered through innovation: Women shaping the future of HealthTech

Last month, Health Innovation Yorkshire & Humber hosted ‘Empowering Innovation: Women Shaping the Future of HealthTech’, bringing together female-led start-ups, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders to explore how we can collectively support women working in HealthTech.

Kimberley Frost, lead for Women in HealthTech at Health Innovation Yorkshire & Humber, has blogged in full about the success of the event which you can now access on our website.

The event convened key stakeholders to not only identify challenges, but drive actionable solutions, our new report is based on discussion themes from the event and includes recommendations for a unified system-wide approach to supporting women in HealthTech.
