We are now Health Innovation Yorkshire & Humber

Posted: 2nd October 2023

Multi-coloured Yorkshire rose next to the title Health Innovation (emboldened) Yorkshire & HumberThe Yorkshire & Humber Academic Health Science Network (AHSN) has now changed its name to Health Innovation Yorkshire & Humber.

This is following the announcement that the Government and NHS England has relicensed England’s 15 Academic Health Science Networks under the revised badge of Health Innovation Networks.

This change in name does not affect the services we provide or cause any disruption to our ongoing or future work, but better reflects the key role we play in supporting development and spread of innovation across health services.

Since the establishment of the AHSNs in 2013, we have been driving local innovation and transformation, working closely with our Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) to improve health outcomes for people and boost the local economy, where life sciences play such a major part. Locally, we will continue to work alongside NHS colleagues, academia and innovators to support the spread of all types of innovation within the NHS, from new technologies to ways of working and service improvements. Under the Department of Health and Social Care and the Department of Science, Innovation and Technologies’ joint commission – the Office for Life Sciences (OLS) – we also will continue to provide bespoke support to innovators to accelerate promising innovations from development to adoption, and boost economic growth.

We look forward to continuing this work, locally and nationally as Health Innovation Yorkshire & Humber and to collaborating with you throughout the new license period as we continue to work together to create a healthy, prosperous, equitable and sustainable society.
