NHS Innovation Accelerator scoops industry body impact award
Posted: 19th October 2018
The NHS Innovation Accelerator (NIA) has been announced as the winner of the TSA’s Impact in TEC Team Award.
Announced at the International Technology Enabled Care conference’s annual gala dinner on the 16th October, the NIA had been shortlisted alongside PA Consulting and the London Fire Brigade. The NIA was selected as the winner of the Impact in TEC Team Award by a judging panel of industry experts, which included Alyson Scurfield, Chief Executive of the TEC Services Association (TSA).
The ITEC (International Technology Enabled Care) Awards showcase exceptional work in Technology Enabled Care and are designed to recognise excellence, innovation and outstanding achievement within the sector.
The NIA is recognised for its work in supporting faster uptake of high-impact, evidence-based innovations for patients and NHS benefit. It does this by supporting exceptional individuals or ‘Fellows’ with a dedication to spread innovation and to share their insight and learning with the wider healthcare system to highlight the barriers to uptake and to inform national policy change. Since launching in 2015, the NIA has supported 37 innovations to spread across 1,483 NHS sites, securing £60million in external funding and winning 55 awards.
Alyson Scurfield, Chief Executive of the TEC Services Association (TSA), commented:
“The work of the NHS Innovation Accelerator is of huge benefit in moving the TEC sector forward. Some landmark projects would simply have never gotten off the ground without the ongoing support from this fabulous team. It’s a great achievement for them to be selected in what was a very competitive award category with some really high quality entries. Well done to the NIA team and best wishes for the future.”
Dr Amanda Begley, National Director of the NIA, said:
“We are delighted to receive the TSA’s Impact in TEC Team Award. This fantastic recognition is credit to all those involved in delivering the NHS Innovation Accelerator – of the commitment and efforts of our partners across the AHSN Network and NHS England, our NIA mentors, our patient representatives, and the hard work and dedication of our inspiring Fellows who are spreading high-impact innovations for patient and NHS benefit.”
