Partnership created between the UK and the Philippines.

Posted: 6th December 2023

The UK’s Department of Business and Trade and the British Embassy in Manila hosted a week-long trade mission that saw several NHS and UK organisations meet with healthcare leaders to explore collaboration and partnerships to strengthen trade and share expertise about pressing healthcare challenges.

During the trade mission, a pilot Twinning Partnership was launched to enable greater collaboration in healthcare, research and innovation between West Yorkshire, UK and Pasig City in the Philippines, after an MoU was signed by Mayor Vico Sotto and our CEO Richard Stubbs.

The partnership is the first of its kind and will enable the further progression of a digitised patient registry for primary care in the Philippines, which so far has already benefited over one million patients and was first launched through the UK’s Better Health Programme.

The UK delegation included:

  • Health Innovation Yorkshire & Humber
  • Modality Partnership
  • Aire Logic
  • Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
  • Royal College or General Practitioners
  • UCL Global Business School for Health
  • University of Bradford
  • University of Leeds
  • West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board
