Propel Healthtech West Yorkshire welcomes new cohort of innovators

A flagship programme for Health Innovation Yorkshire & Humber, Propel Healthtech West Yorkshire, has launched a third cohort of its Start-Up and Scale-Up programmes at an event bringing together founders, partners and stakeholders.

Held at Nexus at the University of Leeds, the launch marked the beginning of six months of accelerator support delivered by Health Innovation Yorkshire & Humber in partnership with West Yorkshire Combined Authority.

The programme’s continued delivery follows £4.5 million of investment secured in 2025 from West Yorkshire Combined Authority, via the UK Government’s Investment Zone, supporting the growth of health innovation across West Yorkshire.

The event gave a new cohort of innovators an opportunity to meet each other, connect with programme partners and explore the expertise and support available to help them develop and grow their businesses.

Dr Neville Young, Director of Enterprise and Innovation at Health Innovation Yorkshire & Humber, said: “We’re delighted to welcome our third cohort of innovators to Propel Healthtech West Yorkshire. The quality and ambition demonstrated throughout the selection process underlines the strength of talent working to improve health and care.

“As we enter the programme’s second year, we’re building on the momentum established with West Yorkshire Combined Authority and the partnerships that make this support possible.

“What sets us apart is the depth of expertise available to our innovators, from legal and marketing support to commissioning and routes into the NHS. By combining that expertise with support tailored to each company’s stage of development, we help innovators take practical steps towards adoption and growth.

“We’re also seeing the impact beyond the programme, with alumni securing investment, winning commissions with NHS partners and making progress towards getting their innovations into practice. Their achievements demonstrate what this community can help innovators accomplish, and we look forward to supporting our latest cohort as they take their next steps.”

Welcoming our innovators

Following a highly competitive application process, 30 innovators were selected after demonstrating strong potential to address challenges across health and care, from early-stage ideas to established solutions ready to scale.

Over the next six months, the innovators will benefit from tailored support, expert-led masterclasses and access to regional and national networks, helping accelerate their journey towards real-world adoption and impact.
