Our Chief Executive Richard Stubbs has been appointed as a Visiting Professor at the University of Sheffield.

The appointment reinforces Health Innovation Yorkshire & Humber’s collaborations with the university, underlining their commitment to advancing health innovation across South Yorkshire and supporting the translation of research into meaningful real-world impact.

Richard has worked closely with the university over a number of years and brings a wealth of experience in fostering collaboration across healthcare systems.

He has an established track record of bringing together partners from across sectors and regions to accelerate the role that technology and life sciences can play in improving patient care. Alongside this, he has been a strong advocate for the role that sustainable economic growth can play in improving population health outcomes and reducing inequalities within communities.

In addition to his leadership role at Health Innovation Yorkshire & Humber and his new position at the university, Richard holds a number of non-executive and voluntary roles, reflecting his broad contribution to health, innovation and regional development.

As visiting professor, Richard will work closely with academic colleagues and external partners to share his expertise, strengthen existing collaborations, and support the translation of cutting-edge research into practical solutions that benefit patients, services and communities.

The appointment comes at a time when the university is continuing to deepen its partnerships with NHS organisations, industry and regional stakeholders, with a growing focus on delivering innovation that has tangible benefits for people across South Yorkshire and beyond.

Professor Paul Hatton, Former Director of Research and Innovation for the Faculty of Health said: “The University is delighted to welcome Richard as a visiting professor where he will be sharing his expertise in health innovation with key colleagues.
