UK innovators invited to join exclusive India market entry cohort

Posted: 27th April 2026

Innovators with high-potential diagnostic solutions are invited to apply for a place on a prestigious UK delegation to India this October, hosted by Health Innovation Yorkshire & Humber in partnership with the UK Government’s Department for Business and Trade, supporting the international growth of cutting-edge health technologies.

Delivered in partnership with the UK and India’s Department for Business and Trade (DBT), the UK–India Diagnostics Cohort 2026 will take place from 26–30 October 2026, with visits to Mumbai, Hyderabad and Delhi.

India is one of the fastest-growing healthcare markets globally, offering significant opportunities for UK companies specialising in medtech, diagnostics and digital health to scale internationally. This tailored programme will support a select cohort of up to 10 companies to navigate the Indian market, build strategic partnerships, and position their innovations for adoption at scale.

The programme is open to organisations developing solutions in areas such as AI-enabled diagnostics, point-of-care testing, medical devices, screening, and prevention and population health.

Participants will benefit from a structured market entry journey, including pre-departure briefings, regulatory guidance, and in-market support. During the visit, delegates will take part in curated meetings with senior leaders, buyers and potential partners from leading organisations such as Dr Lal PathLabs, Agilus Diagnostics, Metropolis Healthcare, Thyrocare and Neuberg Diagnostics.

The opportunity comes at a time of rapid growth in India’s healthcare sector. The country imports more than 80% of its medical devices, while its medical diagnostic sector is projected to reach £4.5 billion by 2027.

Through the programme, companies will gain valuable insight into India’s healthcare landscape, connect with key decision-makers, and build the relationships needed to support successful market entry.

Dr Neville Young, Director of Enterprise and Innovation at Health Innovation Yorkshire & Humber, said:

“Our role is to help innovators go further, faster. This programme offers a unique opportunity to understand a complex but high-growth market, while making the right connections to support real-world adoption. By working closely with partners in both the UK and India, we can help ensure that the most promising UK innovations are well positioned to deliver impact at scale.”

Madhukar Bose, Head of Digital Health, Department for Business and Trade, said:

The India-UK healthcare partnership holds tremendous promise, and this programme will bring together leaders from the Indian diagnostics industry and some of the UK’s leading talent to create compelling and successful collaborations in a key area of healthcare delivery.”

Participants will also receive dedicated support from Health Innovation Yorkshire & Humber, including advice on engaging with distributors, generating the evidence required for adoption, and connecting with clinical and commissioning partners.

The programme begins with a preparation phase from June to October 2026, followed by the in-market visit in October.
