In April 2019 fourteen shortlisted applicants pitched their solutions to our assessment panel event and the final cohort of six SMEs was announced at the Yorkshire & Humber Academic Health Science Network Conference on 9th May 2019.

DigiBete is a multi-award winning, patient-led, clinically approved digital video platform designed to improve the lives of those living with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D).
The self-management resources and platform have been developed to support patients and ease the growing burden on healthcare professionals. Co-designed together with clinicians and patients, DigiBete is available in 99 languages.
By developing a strong conceptual model, Healthcare Engineering has created a series of products, including SmartER, that revolutionise the delivery of front-line emergency medicine and changes the patient journey – from passive recipient to active contributor.
Its solutions are designed to engage, empower and educate the patient during the many hours of waiting, creating extra time and space that benefits the patient and healthcare staff.
HeteroGenius specialises in bespoke and off-the-shelf software solutions in digital pathology, medical image analysis, machine learning and data mining.
The company’s main product is MIM (the Medical Image Manager), which free web-based modular software system for image management and analysis in digital pathology and associated radiology.
Medicsen provides a closed-circuit system for the intelligent management and treatment of diabetes, the world’s first non-invasive artificial pancreas, by combining a unique needle-free drug delivery (Smartpatch) with customised predictive and preventive mobile AI technology.
Medicspot offers digital healthcare technology and clinical services to transform primary care delivery.
We deliver optimised walk-in primary care via Medicspot stations, which are automated “health care assistants”. We have a network of stations across the UK, which include diagnostic devices connected with a video terminal capable of triage, diagnostics collection and remote consultation.
Scaled Insights is a custom AI solution that reads or listens to human speech and creates numerical-based impressions of the speakers’ personality, so they can be categorised and understood.
This allows organisations to bridge their big data and consumer insights at scale so they can garner deep insights into new or existing patients or customers with very little interaction.
